Amish Applesauce Bread Recipe
1 cup Sugar
1/2 cup Shortening
1 cup Applesauce
2 Eggs
1 tsp Salt
1-3/4 cup Flour
1/2 tsp Cinnamon, ground
1/2 tsp Nutmeg
1 tsp Baking powder
1/2 tsp Baking soda
1/2 cup Pecans, chopped (optional)
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Hand grease and flour a bread loaf pan.
In a large bowl, combine sugar, eggs and shortening, mixing well with
a spoon. Sift dry ingredients together and gradually fold into egg,
sugar, and shortening mixture. Stir until mixed well and stir in the
applesauce (and pecans if desired). Bake until top of applesauce
bread is golden brown (about 50-60 minutes).

Applesauce Bread Cinnamon Butter
2 sticks Butter
1/2 cup Brown sugar
1 tsp Cinnamon
Combine all ingredients, mixing well.
Butter warm applesauce bread with the
cinnamon butter. Refrigerate when not
being used.
