Amish Food - Holmes County, Ohio (cont'd)
Let’s leave Berlin, Ohio and head back the direction we came on 39, and
head west young man. Before you get to Walnut Creek and eventually
Sugarcreek, you will pass Troyer’s Country Market. It is a nice place to pick
up all sorts of Amish country foods, such as pickled, canned and baked
goods; meats and cheese galore. While traveling through Sugarcreek, a
nice meal can be taken in at Beachy’s Country Chalet. You have to have a
piece of their pie, at least! After you fill up on good Amish food in
Sugarcreek, continue west on 39 until you find the Breitenbach Winery. It is
a wonderful place to taste all sorts of their home made Ohio Amish country
wines, not to mention their meats and cheeses, too! Speaking of cheese,
just down the street and behind Breitenbach’s is the Broad Run Cheese
House, which has a wide selection of foods, not to mention the Swiss
Heritage Winery. What a wonderful way to end the day with great food and
good spirits before heading home with some of the best Amish foods and
delicacies gathered along the way.
Though there are many more places along the way to experience Amish
food that we did not mention, you will have a full day exploring the
restaurants and food stores we highlighted in this article!
